Saint Monica was the mother of St. Augustine who turned his back on the Church as a young man and lived a frenzied life to lust and dissipation. Monica was left weeping and praying for his salvation for more than a decade. Her prayers were finally answered when he returned to the Faith, and he is now revered for his holiness. St. Monica is the patron of mothers today who are also praying, weeping and loving their children as God does to draw them back to the faith.
