The image represents the risen Christ Whose hands and feet bear the marks of the Crucifixion. The two rays “represent the blood and the water”. The blood recalls the sacrifice of Golgotha and the mystery of the Eucharist. The pale ray stands for the Water which mades souls righteous.
This version of the Divine Mercy was painted by Hyla as a votive offering for having survived World War II. It was done under the direction of one of St. Faustina’s confessors, Jozef Andrasz, about five years after her death.
